Artist Statement
I express my work with natural oriental materials like water, Indian ink and natural dye on traditional Korean paper. These materials seem like slowly fermented Korean food which take a long time to gain its taste. I began my career as a painter, then took a detour in commercial animation, and am back now living my life as a visual artist with various mediums. I devote all my energy of recovery and revival into my artwork to share the meaning with others.
This is one of my messages from the waves of my work. The waves surround isolated islands like humans surrounded in endless thoughts from our chatty minds. How can we move out of this situation by our decision? However, these waves will eventually change into noble thought, not pain, and we will be able to achieve our own free will.
